Workers’ Comp Certification Program

The PEO industry needs to take a long-term approach to the Workers’ Comp Certification Program and other insurance issues. Risk sharing is a major component of the PEO concept. PEOs should think as an insurer does. The new Workers’ Compensation Certification Program is a terrific start and hopefully it will help to force a new mindset with benefit programs as well. As a PEO industry, we are imploring workers’ compensation carriers to come to the table long after the hard market began. We need to learn to partner with health carriers sooner rather than later. We tell our prospects that we partner with them in a co-employment relationship. We should deliver the same message of partnership to our insurance carriers as well.
