The Fair Labor Standards Act BasicsFair Labor Standards Act or FLSA. The FLSA: · defines the 40-hour workweek · covers the federal minimum wage · sets requirements for overtime, and · places restrictions on child labor. FLSA establishes minimums for fair pay and hours. An employer must also comply with other local, state or federal workplace laws that set higher standards. So in addition to determining whether an employee is being paid properly under the FLSA, the employee may need to check to see if other laws also apply to your situation. |
