RIF NoticesA federal agency must give each employee at least 60 days specific written notice before he or she is reached for Reduction In Force (RIF) action. In a Department of Defense RIF in which 50 or more employees receive separation notices, the agency must give the employee a minimum of 120 days specific written notice. In exceptional circumstances, an agency may, with prior Office of Personnel Management approval, give employees less than 60, but not less than 30 days specific written notice of a RIF action. |
