Performance Evaluations and ProductivityPerformance Evaluations help supervisors and employees to evaluate performance, assess training and development needs and to make recommendations in order to increase employee productivity. There are 3 steps in the evaluation process: 1. Planning: At the beginning of each evaluation period, the employee and supervisor review the employee's major responsibilities as stated on the job description and discuss performance expectations for the coming year using the performance factors described in the Performance Factor section of the evaluation document. Reference to the prior year's evaluation and job description may help guide discussions and provide continuity. 2. Informal Progress Meetings Periodic meetings throughout the year can provide an ongoing "reality check" for both parties in terms of clarifying general expectations, performance of particular assignments, and planning for future work. 3.
