Change To Lower Grade Due To ReclassificationAs positions are reviewed by local or higher level personnel management authorities, there may be times when a position is downgraded because of a determination that the position warrants classification at a lower grade due to a classification error or job grading standard change when the position has been classified at the higher grade for less than one year. Effecting such a downgrade (demotion) or change to lower grade of the employee occupying the position is considered an adverse action, since it not only lowers the grade of the position but also lowers the employee's salary rate. Employees do not receive entitlements to grade retention if the position has not been classified at the original grade for at least one year. |
