Affinity Orientation

The law allows workplace discrimination against gays, lesbians, transgender, and those with bi-gender affinity orientation. Title VII Civil Rights Act prohibition on discrimination on the basis of gender does not protect employees against discrimination on the basis of affinity orientation, which include gays, lesbians and transsexual. Nine states, which are WI, CA, MA, CN, HW, NJ, MN, VT and RI, and over 125 municipalities have passed laws providing protection for gays and lesbian employees. For government employees, state and federal constitutions may provide protection.
